Why can’t we wear shoes? Can I just go barefoot?
Being a shoe-free facility keeps Monkey Around cleaner and safer for everyone. We mitigate all kinds of germs and debris that may get tracked in from the outside. Also, eliminating shoes lowers the risk of little fingers and toes getting stepped on.
We do make exceptions for guests who have mobility devices and prescribed orthotics, though we will have them thoroughly wipe down shoes upon entry and they may have minor restrictions on where they can go.
Going barefoot is not permitted at Monkey Around.
What ages are best for Monkey Around?
All ages have fun in our space, but our experience shows that steady walkers through age 8 typically have the most enjoyment of the space. Older kids tend to have the most fun when they come with friends or siblings, and younger kids not quite steady on their feet love playtime with siblings or caregivers who help them along.
Who do you charge admission for?
We charge entry for anyone 10 and under who is playing with toys. There is no cost for babies who stay in carriers, car seats, laps, and arms. However, many little friends do like to join in the fun from a young age!
We also do not charge admission for adults. While we typically do not have restrictions on adult attendance, we may limit adults to two per group during private special events & extremely busy days.
Is the bathroom easily accessible?
Each of our bathrooms is fully handicapped accessible and has plenty of room for you to go in with your littles. Each bathroom is a separate room, so there are no stalls. Each bathroom has a changing table with a pad, and we require all diaper changes to happen in the bathrooms.
Do you have annual passes?
We do not offer annual memberships. However, we offer a few ways to save on playtime!
Our pay ahead passes are $100 for 10 entries and are great for families who come a few times a month. Our monthly memberships vary based on family size and are perfect for families who come once or twice a week.
What is there to do?
We focus entirely on gross motor playtime… so think of anything that’s BIG movements. You’ll find bounce houses, climbers, large blocks, riding toys, room to run and make up games, and more! You won’t find things like Lego tables, dress-ups, or imagination stations (although we know those are fun and important!). Our goal is that kids of all ages and abilities get moving and stay moving. You also won’t find anything with a screen or battery operated in our space.
Younger kids will have fun exploring, climbing, and learning all about what their bodies are capable of doing. Older kids often enjoy making up games.
Who can bring kids to play?
We know that it takes a village, and your village is more than welcome to bring kids in. Whether it’s a parent, grandparent, nanny, or babysitter, we welcome caregivers of all kinds. Please make sure your child has a waiver signed, or we will require the responsible party to sign them in with a new waiver.
Caregivers are all responsible at all times regardless of relationship status
What can my baby do?
We have friends under a year come to play all the time! They are welcome to utilize the entire space, but we do have a specific area that is only for babies, crawlers, and early walkers. It includes small play structures that young ones can pull up on and crawl over, small riding/push toys, baby toys & books, and soft play blocks. This is great for babies working on tummy time up until they’re stable on their feet. We also have a rocking chair for those who need a quiet place to feed babies.
Can I leave my kids and come back?
We are not a drop-in facility and are not licensed for full time drop-in care or use. A responsible party must be present at all times.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
We allow outside food and drinks for your convenience. We only allow cakes with a scheduled birthday party in the party room, and we do not allow serving/catering-sized portions of food outside of the party room. You are welcome to pack a lunch, pick something up, or bring in your favorite drink. We also have a small cafe section for your convenience. We do not permit alcohol at any time.
Do you have any allergy restrictions?
We do not have any allergy-related restrictions for outside food, and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free facility. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, and we regularly sanitize throughout the day to mitigate issues. We also offer a variety of allergy-friendly snacks at our cafe.
How do you keep things clean?
We know that sanitation and cleanliness are a top priority for caregivers! We clean frequently throughout the day including vacuuming the floor, wiping down seating, and sanitizing. As much as possible we use safe, non-toxic, kid-friendly cleaners. Our most common one is called, Force of Nature. We use this every 30-90 minutes on high-touch areas based on how many kids are in playing. There are 3 hand sanitizer stations in the building. We also ask that anyone who is sick please stay home.
How long can we stay?
Open playtime is unlimited, so stay as long or as little as you need. It’s true! A majority of families stay 1-2 hours, but we have some that are done after 20 minutes and others that stay for 5-6 hours.
Ticketed after-hours events are the length specified on the ticket.
Do I need to schedule to use the party room?
Use of the party room needs to be scheduled ahead of time as one of our birthday party packages. We suggest booking birthday parties at least 6 weeks in advance.
Do we have to book the party room to celebrate a birthday?
We understand some families want a small celebration with just the birthday kid and one or two friends. You’re welcome to come in during open playtime for a birthday playdate. Guests must be limited to 10 or fewer people, and we do not allow additional decorations in the space. We also do not allow full-sized cakes in the main play space, you’re welcome to bring small treats like cookies, cake pops, or donuts.
